Will there ever be any of you goodies compatible with Mac?
Fabian StrubeCreator
I would love to add mac compatibility, can't be to far off. Currently I do not have access to a mac so it's hard to evaluate. I will keep this in mind, thanks for your comment!

Did you update to Houdini 20 new nodes and workflow? UMD is not working very well with Houdini 20 and Redshift 3.5.22. Please check it. Thank you. :)

Hi! Thanks for you comment.
I just tested it with Houdini 20 and Redshift 3.5.22 and it works on my end.
Could you elaborate further what is not working for you?
The new solaris/stage workflow, is on my list to make it Material Builder more context sensitive but for now you can use the materiallibrary to add materials from the /mat context into your stage :)

Thank you for your time. UMD is not connecting all the PBR materials. I do it manually. Yes Sir, I copy and paste from SOP Mat into Solaris Material Builder. Again, thank you for your time. :)

Hi Fabian, I'm trying to get this going for Houdini but when I press the shelf icon I get:
File "Universal Material Builder", line 11, in <module>
File "C:\Program Files\Side Effects Software\Houdini 19.5.773\python39\lib\site-packages-forced\shiboken2\files.dir\shibokensupport\__feature__.py", line 142, in _import
return original_import(name, *args, **kwargs)
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'HoudiniMaterialBuilder'
Running 19.5. Any ideas?

Hi! Thanks for reaching out. Can you right-click and edit the tool. Than there should be a python tab with the code that runs the script from your disc. Can you sent me the code inside to strubefabian4@gmail.com?

Hi Fabian. This is great addon.
Can i suggest you few ideas, for Houdini (i dont know how about this in Maya). Create a json file for Houdini to install tool via packages. Add automatic ident for translucency map. Add option to remap the displacement from 0-1 to -0.5 - 0.5.
What do you think about a megascans scheme for assembling textures of different types, like 3d plants (in redshift it uses sprites node for opacity, 3d objects, surfaces?
Thank you!

Hi 👋 Thank you for your comment. The package system in houdini is definitely something I should look into! Implementing Sprites for Redshift is doable in theory, but it's unique for redshift, maybe as an option in the preferences.

Bit of a stupid question, I get the following error when I go to run UMB in Maya 2024.2:
# Error: ModuleNotFoundError: file Q:\Stock/Maya/umb\python\MayaMaterialBuilder.py line 102: No module named 'pymel'

Hi! Thanks for reaching out.
Pymel is a module that can be installed with Maya and is a requirement for most scripts. Here is a way to install pymel for maya afterwards:
Open your texteditor and write the following:
"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2024\bin\mayapy.exe" -m pip install pymel
pause
save onto desktop with the extension .bat
Right-click and run as admin.
Now after a Maya restart, it should work fine! :)
